Viale Emilio Praga, 40 Rimini 47923 (RN)

The Malatesta Temple in Rimini is the first architectural work by Leon Battista Alberti. Work on it began in 1447. It is a must during your stay in Rimini. Alberti transformed the pre-existing church of Saint Francis in Rimini into a temple-mausoleum for the Lord of the town Sigismondo Malatesta. The sublime crucifix is by Giotto and is situated in the second chapel on the right. Though it is unfinished, the Temple is the key work of art of the Renaissance period in Rimini, and one of the most important architectural works of the Italian 15th Century in general.
